Equinix is the world’s leading global interconnection company and colocation provider. We connect the world's top businesses to their customers, employees and partners inside the world's most connected data centers in 41 markets across five continents. In 2015, Equinix became the first colo to announce a long-term goal to use 100% clean and renewable energy across our global footprint with an interim goal of 50% by end of 2017, against a 2015 baseline. In 2016, we increased our global green power usage to 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours, double the 870 million kWh used in 2015. We counted 100% renewables across our legacy European portfolio and 81% across our Telecity European acquisition and made significant progress in the U.S. We achieved 43.5% in the U.S., even though two newly constructed wind farms we signed long-term virtual PPAs with only began operating at year’s end. In the deals, both signed in 2015, we agreed to purchase 125 MW from the Rush Springs Wind Farm in Oklahoma (online 12/1/16) and 100 MW from the Wake Wind Farm in Texas (online 11/1/16). The combined 225 MW is enough to cover 80% of our U.S. load when both wind farms are operating for a full year.
