IKEA aims to generate as much renewable energy as they consume by 2020. In FY17, they generated renewable energy equivalent to 73% of the energy they used. In FY17, their wind farms and solar PV modules generated 2,388 GWh of renewable electricity. Compared to the same amount of electricity generated with the average grid mix, the electricity generated by their wind farms and solar panels reduced carbon emissions by 961,747 tonnes. Two-thirds of their buildings worldwide run on a 100% renewable electricity supply, reducing their carbon footprint from electricity consumption by 47%. The solar electricity generated on-site is used in their buildings or sold to the grid. IKEA is also committed to pursuing.
